I have been thinking that I may be interested in learning to make solar power by building a few solar panels for my home and banking some cash instead of spending it to hire a professional installer.
I have read that I may be able to construct my own solar panels for under $250 and that all of the supplies can be purchased at my local hardware or home building supply or maybe even online.
I’m looking into used solar cells as well but I’m not sure where to find them.
I did find out that if you buy retail for the solar cells that they can run into hundreds of dollars apiece.
I’m also wondering about the different kinds of photovoltaic cells and what would be the best type to use to make solar power for my home as there are more than a few choices out there but the most powerful, in terms of efficiency and cost seams to be the ultra thin type. My understanding is that these make the most power, are less expensive and use minimal space.
I have been looking into solar cells on eBay and several other auction websites but I’m really not sure if these are what I need to make solar power panels.
I have also been looking around my neighborhood for photovoltaic cells for free from outfits that may otherwise have to dump of them. According to my research, broken solar cells are almost as good as new ones and can be easily used to construct usable solar panels.
